Sunday night decompression

Wow! It finally happened, part 2…the reason you didn’t see a part 1 is because it never made it. As I went through and thought about the events of our first Sunday as Revolution Church Sacramento, One Prayer, and issues in moving forward and wrote them all down in the blog, my internet connection went down. When that happened, of course I lost my entire post and therefore had to start over. Satan sure seems to be all over what we are doing, but I will not be discouraged! Here is most of what I had tried to post previously regarding my thoughts after our first-ever Revolution Church Sacramento preview service:

  • Being a part of the One Prayer project still just leaves me in awe. To be able to move up our preview service schedule from September 2008 to June was incredible as we are all about seeing the body of Christ in unity. This is a day that will make history within the Church (big “C”)!
  • Satan tried to get his hands on our service and we had a few issues arise that were unexpected–some even inexplicable–however I’ve seen enough in ministry to know that when Satan chooses to get ugly, it’s usually in response to some awesome move of God. I’m curious to see if similar things played themselves out in other churches involved in One Prayer.
  • I had some comments about the video we showed from LifeChurch.tv and how it made the number of 1,200 churches connected throughout the world more than just a figure. Putting names and locations to the number made it real for them. It was pretty awesome and inspirational to know that we have brothers and sisters around the world praying for us and that we can have the honor of praying for them. As Pastor Craig Groeschel has prayed, God make us ONE!
  • New Season was the perfect song to lead off our first-ever preview service for Revolution Church Sacramento. With all the stuff going on, especially that freaky issue with the powerpoint where it kept freezing up and preventing us from kicking things off smoothly, many of the lyrics were playing in my head to help keep me from getting distracted and frustrated. The devil’s time is up no longer can he bother me!
  • The more I move forward with planting Revolution the more I know that God is calling others to bring their gifts and talents to the mix and take us to the next level as a team-based ministry. While I am able to do a lot of things in the service through the grace of God, I know that I am putting myself in a place where I can only do an average job at best when I have to wear many hats. Lord, please send your people to connect with the vision you gave me for advancing the gospel here in Sacramento as a team-based ministy.
  • Kudos and extra thanks to Lynne from River Rock Church of Folsom for coming out to help with our first worship service! With all that was happening in service today, I got a little dejected. However, everytime I saw her there was a huge smile on her face as she danced and sang praise to the Lord. Lynne, I’m sure it wasn’t an easy time for you, but know that because of your presence I saw Christ in you and it will make me work harder to let the Spirit in me overcome my natural mind and keep me reminded of who I am doing this for and why I must be at my best with a peaceable and joyful heart. Thank you so much Lynne!
  • I’m still awestruck at knowing that when we at Revolution Church Sacramento signed up for the One Prayer project a month ago there were 50 churches and about 35,000 individuals attached to it and I was so excited. Then, after 3 weeks it was up to 1,200 churches and 700,000 members. Sunday morning there were over 1,390 churches and after just checking tonight, that number has grown to 1,424 churches and over 816,000 people all praying for the church to be ONE. Wow! God is so awesome!
  • If I were in this for getting encouragement and kudos I obviously picked the wrong endeavor. Thanks Moses for making a point to get me your comments after service. I appreciated that very much and your comments will help make us more relevant to others in the future.
  • I need to seek the Lord and try to figure out how we can get away from being a fellowship of different cliques/groups and become as one after service ends. Our lunchtime fellowship today reminded me of a high school cafeteria rather than a gathering of people with a heart for unity.
  • I need to be more aware of the clock during service regardless of what setbacks Satan tries throwing our way.
  • I hope that others become as excited about this amazing opportunity to pray for the church as I am.
  • If we preach the gospel with a heart to love God first and love others as ourselves, God will send people to us to come to know His salvation and we will be in a position to equip and disciple others to accept the call to do God’s good work in His kingdom.
  • I am saddened that my mom missed our first service at Revolution by passing away the week before it happened. I’m going to dedicate my ministry to you mom and all that I hope you came to know in your heart before leaving your earthly body. I love you mom!
  • The devil’s time is up no longer can he bother me!
  • God is bigger than the air I breathe.
